Mud existed before plates and pots were made out of it; pots and plates are mud, and mud will remain when plates and pots are no more. The plate and the pot must be aware of their being always mud; that in other words, is Self-Realisation. When that is achieved, wherever your eyes are cast, you will find yourself; and wherever your attention is directed, you will see your reflection. Begin to feel it now, from this very moment! Seek to identify yourself as part of the grand and glorious Entity, for all Grandeur and all Glory is His, ultimately!
Sri Sathya Sai Baba
When we inquire into the mental meanderings of the mind, and recognize that awareness is there in that very moment, and that WE aren’t DOING it, we realize that awareness is the source of inquiry, as inquiry is happening. AND, no one is doing anything. No questioner...no answer. Only awareness.

ONE WITH THE STARS...
Often you are aware that there is something behind and beyond all the fleeting fantasy; something that persists through all the successes and defeats, the tears and smiles, the mirth and moan - but you are unable to grasp it and realize that it is the same Entity that underlies the entire Universe. You are indeed one with the most distant star and the least little blade of grass – you shine as dew on the petal of the rose, you are part and parcel of all this manifestation! The scriptures teach you this truth through many a parable, and even directly through the experience of saints and mystics. Through meditation and practice of spiritual discipline, you can be aware of yourselves as all this. Hanuman may have the form of a monkey, but do not get carried away by the outer casement (Upadhi). The Lord was His very breath; every hair-end of Hanuman echoed with Lord Rama's Name.

THE COSMIC DANCE
Shiva Nataraj, in his manifestation as Lord of the Dance, dances to the rhythm of his own drum. Dancing is unlike walking or running in that you don't go anywhere. At the end you are where you were in the beginning. Shiva doesn't go anywhere and he doesn't create anything. He doesn't maintain anything and he doesn't destroy anything. The destruction of the universe is merely the collapse of illusion. Shiva's dance is pure movement, a play of consciousness, but from the rhythm of the drum comes the seeds of language beginning with his five-syllable mantra:
om namah shivaya!

Meditation
What is meditation?
Meditation is not this body-mind meditating as an individual, but it is this knowledge ‘I am’, this consciousness, meditating on itself.

Silence and Self Discovery
Silence is the true upadesa. It is the perfect upadesa. It is suited only for the most advanced. Others are unable to draw full inspiration from it. Therefore they require words to explain the Truth. But Truth is beyond words. It does not admit or explain. It merely indicates the truth through self-discovery.”

Welcome All...
This human being is a guest house.
Every morning a new arrival.
A joy, a depression, a meanness,
some momentary awareness comes as an unexpected visitor.
Welcome and entertain them all!
Even if they're a crowd of sorrows, who violently sweep your house empty of its furniture, still treat each guest honorably.
He may be clearing you out for some new delight.

The Basis of All Being
You are the Formless come in the form of man, the infinite, come in the role of the finite, the Formless Infinite appearing as the formful infinitesimal, the Absolute pretending to be the Relative, the Atma behaving as the body, the Metaphysical masquerading as the merely physical. The Universal Self is the basis of all being. The sky was there before houses were built under it; it penetrated and pervaded them for some time; then, the houses crumbled and became heaps and mounds; but, the sky was not affected at all. So too, the Atma pervades the body and subsists even when the body is reduced to dust.
